Programs & Events

Audubon Everglades is a conservation organization with birds and wildlife at the heart of it, and our programs are how we put that into practice. There’s almost always something going on, whether you want to learn, get outdoors, meet people, or roll up your sleeves for wildlife. Check the events calendar on our website to see what’s coming up, and use the tabs on this page to learn more about each program.

Our field trips, “Take a Walk on the Wild Side,” bring birds and conservation together. We visit natural areas that need supporters, and we bring along scientists, biologists, and expert birders. Trips run across Palm Beach County, into Broward, and around Florida, with a few state and national destinations too. We also hold a special SFWMD permit to lead birding driving tours of the Stormwater Treatment Areas.

Not every program involves getting out the door. Virtually There is our monthly speaker series and member meeting, where renowned scientists, dedicated biologists, acclaimed authors, and passionate conservationists share their work and stories. Whether you’re a lifelong birder, a budding naturalist, or simply curious about the wild world, you’re virtually there with us, discovering, learning, and celebrating the beauty of avian life and beyond. Join us live on Zoom, or watch live on the Audubon Everglades YouTube channel. Missed one? Every session is recorded, so you can catch up on past programs there anytime. Attendance is always free, and it’s made possible by the generous support of Linda Macaulay of the Macaulay Library at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.

For something more social, come to Wingo (bird bingo), Bird Brain Trivia, the Flyway Film Series, or the Nestled Nook Book Club. They’re easy ways to meet people who care about the same things you do.

If you’d rather get hands-on, our citizen science programs include Purple Martin conservation, Shorebird Stewardship, Eagle Watch, Adopt-an-Island cleanups at Tarpon Cove, and the Christmas Bird Count on December 27. Our Conservation Crew gives teens ages 13 to 18 a way to get involved, and our Conservation Pathways program offers internships and leadership opportunities.

We also teach, and we come to you. Plants for Birds and our Create Your Own Bird Sanctuary series show you how to turn your yard into habitat. Crash Course, with Palm Beach State College, tackles bird-window collisions through art and design. Our Conservation Photography Program launches in January 2027. Our outreach team is out at community events and festivals throughout the year, so stop by and say hello. You can also book us for a program or a speaker at your school, library, or club.

Nature is for everybody, so come as you are. Events and field trips are registered through Eventbrite, and members get discounts and first access to select trips.
