A Beginner Bird Walk at Peaceful Waters Sanctuary (Pop-up Event)

New to birding? Join Audubon Everglades field guide Kar DeGeiso for one of our first fall beginner birding trips. Kar will help you learn to use binoculars, spot birds, and recognize common South Florida species by sight and sound. Many species of birds can be found here, including ducks, herons, egrets, swamp hens, and even an occasional Roseate Spoonbill. There are lots of different animals, including the resident otters, plants and reptiles.
About Peaceful Waters Sanctuary
Opened in 2008 by the Village of Wellington, Peaceful Waters Sanctuary turned about 30 acres of utility property into a public wetland that doubles as vital habitat. In a region that has lost so much of its original wetlands, this small sanctuary shelters wading birds, waterfowl, and winter visitors in the middle of a busy community. It has become a favorite of birders and photographers from across the region.
