We need your help!  Recent proposals by President Obama to open our coastline to offshore oil drilling is an issue of concern to all Florida residents. Please contact your Federal Legislators to voice objection to off shore drilling along Florida’s coast.

There are many reasons to voice your objection to off shore drilling.  Below are just a few of them:

The impact of a potential oil spill and the disturbance on animals and plants found in or near coastal waters such as nesting shorebirds, sea turtles, fish and fish nurseries, and coral reefs (many of which are endangered or threatened) would be a disaster.

There is a grave risk to the economy of Florida should such an oil spill occur.  There would be a major loss of tourism in diving, snorkeling, commercial and recreational fishing, and most of all the beaches.  We cannot forget the possibility of oil leaks caused by hurricanes.  Florida is a major migratory bird flyway with stopover all along our coasts.
