After careful consideration, we have decided to err on the side of caution and cancel the Hawk Watch scheduled for Sunday, October 7.

The beach and boardwalk at John D MacArthur Beach State Park re-opened on Friday morning but the Park Ranger cannot say that they will remain open over the weekend.  Even if they do remain open, we don’t want people to be exposed to any remaining airborne red tide toxins for 6 hours.  Quoting from the Park’s web site:

The Florida Park Service has reopened our beach as conditions have improved.  Please be aware, some visitors may be sensitive and experience respiratory issues and or eye irritation.

We are sorry to cancel but will hope for better conditions next season.

Please pass the word to anyone you know who might have been considering attending.

Rick
