Audubon Everglades Presents

“Preserving and Protecting the Lake Worth Lagoon”
with Reinaldo Diaz, Founder and President of Lake Worth Lagoon Waterkeeper

Date: Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at 7pm

UPDATE: If you missed the program, you can catch it on our Program Videos page.

Join us Tuesday, December 1 for Reinaldo Diaz’s presentation via Zoom. Learn about the Lagoon and the Lake Worth Waterkeeper’s role in advocating for this important watershed that is often overlooked as a northern estuary of the Greater Everglades.

The Lake Worth Lagoon was once a landlocked freshwater lake fed by underground seepage from the Everglades. In the mid-1800s, developers forever changed the Lake Worth Lagoon and damaged the environment. Recent projects, that include Snook Island, have made some positive impacts to fish and wildlife in the lagoon, but water quality is the greatest concern.

Reinaldo Diaz is a native Floridian and an experienced dive guide, fisherman and backpacker. He has a BA in Communications with a minor in Anthropology from Florida Atlantic University and a Juris Doctor from Nova Southeastern University. His professional experience includes work on environmental law issues, land development challenges, and cases involving public interest.

Look for your email with a link to this zoom presentation. We look forward to having you join us!
