ASE member John Shelly reports that Snail Kites are nesting again at the Marsh Trail. Here is his report from FL-Birds:

Yesterday mid morning I decided to check to see if the Snail Kites were
nesting again in the second impoundment to the south of the Marsh Trail
at the Lee Rd. entrance to the Loanable NWR west of Delray/Boynton Beach as they did last year. YES – saw 6 adults and 1 nest.
I was pleasantly surprised at the other birds since the Feb/Mar birding
there was very poor – more gators than Morehens! The highlites were:
10 Black-bellied Whistling Ducks,
2 male Wood Ducks,
6 Limkins, and
the Great-horned Owl (in the trees to the east of that 2nd
impoundment).
On the way home, about a mile south of the entrance on US 441 I stopped to check out a kettle of birds to look for a Black Vulture. I’m glad I did as there were also 4 Wood Storks and a Swallow-tailed Kite in the kettle.
I had 31 species, but no shore birds, warbles, Grebes, Coots, or Snowy
Egrets.
