DESCRIPTION:This is a self-driving tour\, there is no field guide. \n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\n\nGPS N 27’07’09.43″ W 080’40″22.37 \n\n\n\n7250 SW Conners Hwy\, Okeechobee\, FL 34974\, USA \n\n\n\nThrough cooperation with Audubon of Martin County and South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) we have been granted access to this STA.  \n\n\n\nLakeside Ranch Stormwater Treatment Area (STA) is a 2\,700-acre wetland in western Martin County. These wetlands treat Stormwater runoff from the Taylor Creek and Nubbin Slough basins before that water enters Lake Okeechobee; these basins have the highest phosphorus loads going to the lake. \n\n\n\nPlease register your ticket as one vehicle as we are restricted to the number that can travel this. \n\n\n\nThere are bathrooms available at the entrance.  \n\n\n\nRegistration is required  \n\n\n\n*******All participants must have a signed SFWMD Liability Release to include your address. Audubon Everglades Home page-> Program & Events->Field Trips-> Liability Release. https://www.auduboneverglades.org/field-trips \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDirections: From I-95\, take Route 714 west\, turn right on Route 710\, go 1/4 mile and turn left turn on Route 15B. Follow until you reach 98 and make a left\, drive for approximately 2.4 miles. The new Lakeside Ranch STA entrance is on your left. \n\n\n\nWhat to bring: Binoculars\, camera\, spotting scopes\, sun block\, reference books\, water and snacks\, insect repellent.
