Everyone’s favorite meeting of the year — Ice cream followed by a picture show! Bring your best nature photos and tell us your stories. Limit your photographs to around 12 prints or slides per member. We will have a digital projector so you can bring your digital photos on a USB thumb drive. Large prints and paintings are also welcome. Some of the best bird pictures we’ve seen have been at the August meetings so don’t miss this one!
Doors open at 7:00 to make your OWN SUNDAE and enjoy cookies, beverages and camaraderie. In rooms 101 and 102 at FAU Pine Jog Environmental Education Center, 6301 Summit Blvd, (near Jog Road) in West Palm Beach. Meeting is free and open to the public. This is a great time to join your local Audubon Society of the Everglades to get on the mailing list for the new brochure and all the upcoming events.
August’s Bird of the Month will be the Royal Tern. These graceful fliers forage with direct lunges toward the water surface or with oblique to vertical plunges from several meters up; it also snatches food from the water surface, feeds like a skimmer or even attacks smaller terns! Come to our August meeting to hear more about this fascinating Palm Beach County bird from our expert, Clive Pinnock.
