AUDUBON SOCIETY OF THE EVERGLADES (ASE) – 2016 ASE’s 50th Year Anniversary!



Mission – Educating and inspiring people to conserve wildlife, especially birds, and the environment that supports them.


SCOPE: ASE ( is an all-volunteer 501C3 organization, the chapter of the National Audubon Society ( dedicated to PALM BEACH COUNTY. Florida Audubon ( is separate from ASE and is dedicated to all Florida.


PHOTOGRAPHS: ASE has a growing collection of bird and action press photos.



  • Conservation – ag reserve, state rd 7 Grassy Waters, Everglades restoration, ….and we participate in or lead many citizen science programs. We often partner with local Sierra chapter, EVCO, and other conservation groups.
  • Education – sponsor annual Everglades Day Festival at ARM Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge (everglades day festival) , establishing birding clubs in PBC elementary schools, monthly educational speaker programs, sponsor scholarships and prizes for schools, …
  • Birding trips – we are the pre-eminent local birding community, sponsoring almost 150 trips each year, most of them free to the public and led by over 50 volunteer leaders. Many of our locations are otherwise closed to the public.
  • Tourism support – we create continuous exciting and unique things to do for visitors to PBC and Florida – special events include visits to private preserves & birding celebrities, access to unusual birds such as the PBC Flamingo migration flock, Christmas bird count, to name a few events – plus we give a sense of community with friends and social outreach for snowbirds and visitors from around the world.
